Travel to the UK

  • Nottingham is accessible via the major UK airports.

    • East Midlands Airport is the closest to the city. A direct Skylink bus route connects the airport to Nottingham (every 30 minutes).

    • Birmingham Airport is regionally close and connects to Nottingham via National Rail services (approx. 1 hour travel time).

    • London airports (Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton) are a feasible travel option, and connect to Nottingham via National Rail services (approx. 2.5 hour travel time).

  • Conference delegates may need a visa to visit the UK. You can check here whether you require a visa before you travel.

Travel in the UK

  • We advise driving to University Park Campus, to park your car at your accommodation. All inter-campus travel will be provided via bus.

    The University is close to Junction 25 of the M1. From there, the A52 leads to the campus. Local signage is good.

  • The closest train stations are Nottingham and Beeston stations. Please note that for train travel in the UK, tickets must be purchased in advance of travel, either online (click here) or at a ticket machine in the departure station.

    • From Nottingham station: You can get to the University directly on the Tram (every 10 minutes), the SkyLink bus (every 20 minutes) and the 34 bus (every 30 minutes).

    • From Beeston station: You can walk to the University, which takes around 20 minutes. You can also take the SkyLink bus (every 20 minutes) or 18 bus (every 30 minutes).

    Tickets for all bus and tram options listed here can be purchased online and with Apple Pay / Google Pay.

  • There are national bus services connecting Nottingham to other major UK cities and airports.

    • National Express buses connect the city to London, Birmingham and other major cities. Tickets must be purchased before travel. These buses terminate at Nottingham Broadmarsh Bus Station.

    • FlixBus options connect the city to London, Manchester, Leeds, and many smaller cities. These buses terminate at either Nottingham Broadmarsh Bus Station, or directly at the University of Nottingham.

    Inter-campus travel between University Park Campus (accommodation) and Sutton Bonington Campus (conference) is provided in the registration fee. However, those wishing to travel separately to Sutton Bonington Campus can use the HopperBus service free of charge. Simply show your conference badge to the driver.
